2024-2025: The year of well-being!

Dear friends,

I hope your children’s return to school went well! Returning to school can be a stressful, boring or exhilarating time for our youth. There are a million ways to experience the start of a new school year, as Radio-Canada headlined last week in an article full of helpful tips for parents (in French). Staying open to our children’s emotions, implement a routine… I invite you to read the article!

In fact, the team at the Federation has decreed that the school year we’re about to embark on will be the year of well-being! The 2023-2024 school year was filled with news and events that were hard on families, including issues related to the safety of our youth, their physical and mental health, and access to services. This year, we invite parents and all those involved in the school community to realize that prioritizing well-being is one of the keys to success.

One of the first events I’ll be taking part in this year is the special commission on the impact of screens and social networks on youth health and development. This will be an opportunity to bring the parents’ voice to the table regarding the use of screens, one of the issues that can affect well-being and success.

The FCPQ will also be teaming up with Aidersonenfant.com to provide committed parents with the tools they need to deal with everyday challenges such as managing screen time.  A free subscription to Aidersonenfant.com’s parenting courses is a new feature for our members, adding to the personalized support we offer based on their needs. There’s more to come, and we’ll be talking about it at this week’s General Council!

In the meantime, I invite committed parents to discover the FCPQ advantage by watching this short video.

Have a great start to the new school year! Remember: looking after your well-being is one of the keys to success!
